Very brief description of Newton's 3 laws

Isaac Newton developed his three laws of motion to better understand how the universe operated on a physical level while his Laws of Motion breakdown in the most extreme conditions like an atomic scales are approaching the speed of light his laws still operate extremely well in more normal conditions Newton's first law states that an object in motion remains in motion unless acted on by a force this is also known as the law of inertia Newton's second law states that the acceleration of an object experiences is proportional to the force acting on it but inversely proportional to the mass of the object in other words if you apply the same Force to a 10 lb bowling ball and a half lb baseball the baseball will experience greater acceleration because of its smaller Mass Newton's third law states that for every action there is an equal but opposite reaction Rockets operate on this principle the rocket forces mass in the form of burn propellant how to back of the engine at high speed the propellant responds by applying a reaction force on the rocket engine it is this reaction force that propels a rocket forward we say that there is a net force acting on the rocket to push it forward sometimes though the net force is equal to zero if you're sitting in a chair right now you are experiencing a net force of zero gravity is pulling you down toward the floor force exerted by the chair you were sitting on opposes gravity we call this opposing Force the normal force the normal force is also connected to the force of friction among other things when there are two on each forces acting on an object it will accelerate in the direction of whatever force is the greatest when a skydiver jumps out of a plane there was a downward force of gravity and an upward force of air resistance the force due to but he is constant and was initially greater this causes the skydiver to accelerate downward as their velocity increases however the force due to air resistance also increases eventually the force of air resistance equal to the force of gravity the skydiver will continue to fall but their velocity does not increase they have reached terminal velocity and Newton's first law is now in effect
