Physical Education Course Descriptions
Course: Dance I-III (Pre-Drill)
Credit: 1.0 credit
Grade Placement: 9th-11th grade
Course Description: is a one year course designed to prepare a student for the competitive tryout required to gain
membership into the Cherokee Charmers drill team. Tryouts will be in the spring semester of each school year.
Students may be obligated to attend extra-curricular activities such as football games, practices outside of the regular
school day, and spring show. An estimated fee of $50 is required for dance clothes and uniforms. This fee will be
due by the end of September. If a student makes the Cherokee Charmers drill team, they will use the clothing
purchased in pre-drill, as one of their uniforms.

Course Description: is a one year course based off grade level when entering the Cherokee Charmers drill team.
The students are individuals selected at the conclusion of the competitive team tryouts as members of the Cherokee
Charmers.
Course: Physical Education I-IV
Credit: 1.0 credit
Grade Placement: 9th - 12th
Course Description: are designed to develop students in sportsmanship and team and individual activities. Physical
fitness training will be done daily with an emphasis on calisthenics and aerobic workouts including one to two miles
of running. The variety of activities enables students to gain knowledge and skills for leisure and lifetime sports
activities. Uniforms (shirt and shorts) are rented as a service to students for a nominal fee. The school washes
uniforms after each day’s activities.
Course: Physical Education Equivalents I-IV
Credit: 1.0 credit
Grade Placement: 9th - 12th
Course Description: Courses are designed for those students in athletic events (football, basketball, volleyball,
baseball, soccer, golf and tennis) and cheerleading.
Course: Adventure/Outdoor Living Education
Credit: 0.5 – 1.0
Grade Placement: 9th – 12th
Course Description: Students will develop competency in outdoor education activities such as backpacking, hunter
safety, conservation, archery, camping, hiking, orienteering, water sports, or water safety that provide opportunities
for enjoyment and challenge.
Course: Cheerleading (I-IV)
Credit: 1.0 credit
Grade Placement: 9th-12th
Course Description: is a method of earning PE credit. The students are selected through competitive tryouts.
