Course: Theater Arts I: Introduction to Theater and Theater Arts II-IV

Course Description: is an introductory one-year course for students interested in acting and obtaining a basic theater background. This course includes the study of basic acting concepts and skills, expressive use of the body and voice, theater production concepts and skills and aesthetic growth through appreciation of theatrical events.

Course Description: are one-year courses offered in sequence to Theater Arts I. The course content is a continuation of concepts and skills developed in Theater Arts I

Course: Theater Production I-III

Prerequisite: Theatre Arts I (on the high school level)
Course Description: are one-year courses offered in sequence. Each year provides practical hands-on experience in acting and stagecraft through the preparation and performance of scenes, monologues and plays for classroom use. "This class will also include a six week unit on Stage Movement, including Broadway Choreography." Students in these classes are invited to work as technical personnel for the performances of the shows publicly presented by Theater Production IV.

Course: Theater Production IV

Course Description: This is an advanced and technical production class, responsible for rehearsing and preparing a season of shows, including a fall production, a children’s show, the UIL One-Act Contest Play and the spring performance. Theater Production IV entrance is by audition and instructor approval only.

Course: Technical Theatre ( I-IV)

Prerequisite: Theatre Arts 1 or Production 1 (on the high school level)
Course Description: this class is designed for hands-on design and construction of sets, costumes, makeup, lights, and stage movement. Students will learn how to construct flats (the basic unit of set construction) as well as how to sew costumes, design and execute multiple makeup designs, design lighting plots and learn how to focus instruments to execute those designs. Students will read plays and design the technical aspects of that show.
