AVID 1 Freshman, Week 3/30-4/3

First, Hey guys!!!  I miss you!!!  I need you to do a couple of things for me other than assignments.

You have one assignment to be turned into teams!

  1. I want to hear your thoughts about the quarantine and what you are doing during this time:  ie, family time, work, reading, social media, school work, community service, games, etc.
Use a word document and create a short essay and share your thoughts and your hearts with me.
    Turn  into TEAMS !
  1. Also, please be working on your CORE subjects.
  1. We have talked about self discipline and effort.  This is a great time to practice this.    Use this time to read and teach yourself if there are some areas you know you are weak in.  Take this time to enjoy your family, work on your study and reading skills and realize you can teach yourself or find friends who you can collaborate with and encourage each other.
  1. We miss you and can’t wait to finally get some feed back and hopefully see you soon.

You guys know we love you and we can get through this.  Stay strong and look for the good and the silver lining in each day!   Remember, We are Limitless!

Helpful Hints for Using a Calendar/Agenda

1.   Keep the calendar/agenda at the front of your binder.

2.   Every day—either at the beginning or end of each class—record homework, upcoming
       assignments, projects, and tests.

3.   If there is no homework assigned in a class, write “no homework” in the space provided.

4.   Long-term projects or assignments should be recorded twice: the day they
are assigned and the day they are due.

5.   When an assignment is finished, place a check mark next to it, but do not cross out.

6.   At the beginning of each month, record upcoming academic, school, and personal
      responsibilities in your agenda.

7.   At the beginning of each month/grading period, record long-term/short term goals in your
      agenda.

8.   Use the space at the bottom of the agenda page to record your daily reflection, clarifying
questions, and new goals. This space may also be used for communication to and from
       parents.

9.   Your parents are an integral part of the AVID team and should sign your agenda each week.

10. Never remove pages from your agenda to show completion of
activities.  Instead, fold down the corner of the page or make a check mark next to the
      activity.

You have two assignments for me to be turned into teams!

  1.  One is just simple, I want to hear your thoughts about the quarantine and what you are doing during this time:  ie, family time, work, reading, social media, school work, community service, games, etc.  Turn this into TEAMS !
  1. Beginning your College Essay.   Read the whole assignment and then brainstorm for 20 minutes.  It doesn’t have to be perfect.  It is a brainstorm and remember you know you best.  Be proud of who you are and let me know how good you are.  It is ok to brag about yourself in this case. !

  1. Also, please be working on your CORE subjects.  We have talked about self discipline and effort.  This is time for each of you to shine.  Show us what you really are made of.  Use this time to read and teach yourself if there are some areas you know you are weak in.  This quarantine has caused us all to stop and slow down and reflect and this is a great time to take the curve in the road we are being given and it is important to make the best of it.  I do miss you and can’t wait to finally get some feed back and hopefully see you soon.  Remember we are all learning and your teachers are working hard to figure out all of this technology that you all are so good at!

You guys know I love you and we can get through this.  Stay strong and look for the good and the silver lining in each day!

Remember to Make Your Bed!!!  And Never Be a Sugar Cookie!  And Never ever ever Ring the Bell!!!!

Please sign up for my Remind, CLASS 2020@ke63hb
Some of you may already be in this group from last year!

(I was in the process of doing this before spring break and failed to get it done)

You have one assignment to be turned into teams!

  1. One is just simple, I want to hear your thoughts about the quarantine and what you are doing during this time:  ie, family time, work, reading, social media, school work, community service, games, etc.  Use a word document and just share your thoughts and your hearts with me.
    Turn this into TEAMS !
  1. Also, please be working on your CORE subjects.
  1. Check out Mrs. Stevens web page and continue working on your Scholarships…Yes, You can still do this!  People will still be giving away money to you guys, so please….Keep focused on your future.  But to do that, we MUST keep doing what we know we need to get done.
  1. Gather up your college acceptance letters and your scholarship offers.  Make a list.  So when Mrs. Stevens and I ask for them, you can produce them.
  1. We have talked about self discipline and effort.  This is a great time to practice this.    Use this time to read and teach yourself if there are some areas you know you are weak in.  This quarantine has caused us all to stop and slow down and reflect and this is a great time to take the curve in the road we are being given and it is important to make the best of it. This is a time to be self motivated.  Change some bad habits and realize you can teach yourself or find friends who you can collaborate with and encourage each other.  I do miss you and can’t wait to finally get some feed back and hopefully see you soon. (more to come on that)

We are all in this together.  Your teachers are working hard at doing what is best for you and learning all of this technology.   Coach Armstrong and I have been working all day with several things to get going for you guys!

You guys know I love you and we can get through this.  Stay strong and look for the good and the silver lining in each day!  Remember to Make Your Bed!!!  And Never Be a Sugar Cookie!  And Never ever ever Ring the Bell!!!!

Praying for you!     Mrs. Orr   [email protected]
