Assignment Choices for Content Enrichment 

Directions: Choose one [1] of the following assignments to complete each week. Use the resources that you have available to you to research, understand fully, and complete quality work! Upon completion, make sure to indicate the number [#] of the assignment completed and upload to TEAMS via ASSIGNMENTS. 

  1. Find an article that connects to this class. Find one that you believe could have a differing opinion. Write a one-page letter to me explaining your side of the story or defending a differing opinion. You may write it or type it. It must be 3-5 paragraphs and each paragraph should be 3 sentences or more. Include a link or source information of the article so I can read the article. 
  1. Write a one-page news article that would be an example of an article in the Post Bulletin. It must be 3-5 paragraphs and each paragraph should be 3 sentences or more. Choose from the following topics: Choosing Careers, Job Market in Texas, Important skills needed for a specific career, Getting Hired, Resume Tips, etc. 
  1. Write a letter to someone who has been influential in your life. It must be 3-5 paragraphs and each paragraph should be 3 sentences or more. 
  1. Create a poster, promoting this class. Highlight content, life applications, and value. Use text and graphics. 
  1. Name three skills or habits that you feel are the most important for teens to learn to be successful in their future. Write a paper explaining the importance of these skills and how they can lead to success. You may write it or type it. It must be 3-5 paragraphs and each paragraph should be 3 sentences or more. 
  1. Create a poster, hand-made or digital, in support of a specific Pathway, focusing on any specific career field. Be creative, using text and graphics. 
  1. Record a video of a commercial promoting a specific career using TikTok. Find a creative way to advertise, using props or music. 
  1. Create a song or poem with a theme related to this class. This must include a minimum of 50 words. 
  1. Imagine you are the teacher of this class. Consider the most important things for the teacher to teach/demonstrate/relay/share with the students. Write a one-page paper explaining what is most important and how you would do this. It must be 3-5 paragraphs and each paragraph should be 3 sentences or more. 
  1. Write a one page thank you to an elementary, middle school, or high school teacher who has impacted you. It must be 3-5 paragraphs and each paragraph should be 3 sentences or more. 
  1. Draw a comic strip that shows Career Advice, or another topic related to this class. The comic strip must include at least 5 slides.

Monday-Phase 1: Programming-gathering information from the client (your family members) about their needs and wants. (interview your family members) Itemize the list for each person using bullet points/list.  Example:  Mom-wants a larger kitchen with more storage space and work space; She wants her own (parents only) bathroom with a soaking tub, multi-head shower and a double sink; Sister wants a built-in desk with bookshelf in her room with lots of light to sketch/draw/and design patterns; brother wants his own closet and a study space; dad wants a workshop that is NOT where the cars go; Do Your room too.

Tuesday/Wed/Thursday/Friday-Phase 2:  Schematic design=Using a 1/4" = 1 ' scale, Measure each room using the tape measure I gave you earlier in the year so you have the correct measurements to work with;  draw up preliminary sketches of each new/re-designed space.  Use construction markings for doors, windows, etc. Label the rooms.  Put furniture in the rooms.  If you don't have graph paper, use your ruler and white paper.  Put each room on a separate sheet of paper. USE YOUR RULER TO MAKE YOUR LINES STRAIGHT!

 

 You must have your drawings completed  by Friday.

 

P.S. you have already done a little of this on previous assignments, it is nothing new!  :)
